The Rule of Thumb: Fireplace Width = 1/2 to 2/3 of the Wall Section
Measure the wall section where the fireplace will live — not the whole wall, just the visual zone it needs to anchor (between windows, above a media console, the accent wall itself).

When you're between sizes, size up. Nobody has ever finished an install and said "I wish the fireplace were smaller." A linear fireplace that's too small for its wall looks like an afterthought. One that's proportioned right looks like the room was designed around it.
Mounting Height Matters Too
- TV above the fireplace: center the fireplace so the TV bottom sits at comfortable eye level from your seating — typically fireplace centered 18–24" off the floor.
- No TV (statement wall): you have freedom — units mounted lower read as traditional, mounted at eye level read as modern art-piece.

Don't Forget Depth
Width gets all the attention, but depth determines your installation:
- Recessed (flush) install — needs enough wall cavity depth; check whether your wall is 2x4 or 2x6 framing
- Wall-mount — works on any wall, unit projects outward

Can a linear electric fireplace heat my room?
It'll take the chill off and comfortably supplement heat in the room it's in. It won't replace your furnace — buy it for the design and ambiance first.
