About this model
The Bromic Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas is a wall- or ceiling-mounted radiant gas heater in matte black with a honeycomb mesh front, on a pivot-arm bracket so you can aim the heat. It's built for covered outdoor spaces — covered patios, porches, terraces and outdoor rooms, residential or commercial. Two sizes, each in natural gas or liquid propane.
Tungsten vs. Platinum
Both are Bromic's fixed-mount gas heaters with the same mounting heights, clearances, gas requirements and 2-year warranty. The Platinum has a ceramic-glass front. The Tungsten has the matte black mesh front, a slightly higher gas input (26,000 / 43,000 BTU against 23,600 / 39,800) and a lower price.
Choosing Your Size
- Tungsten 500 — 43,000 BTU gas input, 25.4″ wide, Bromic's published heat area 215 sq ft.
- Tungsten 300 — 26,000 BTU gas input, 19.3″ wide, Bromic's published heat area 160 sq ft. Suits smaller zones and multi-heater runs along a long space.
Natural gas and propane are separate SKUs and aren't interchangeable — confirm your fuel before ordering. Select your configuration above.
Before You Order
- It must go under a cover. Bromic's manual: outdoor use only, and "this appliance is to be protected from rain. Install under a protective cover." Don't plan it for a spot open to rain, or for any indoor residential location.
- Ventilation. In a space with a roof and more than two walls, Bromic requires at least 25% of the total wall area to be completely open (the manual gives the full rule and examples).
- Mounting height and clearances. At least 8 ft from the floor. Keep combustibles 3 ft from the top and sides, or 14″ from the top with the Tungsten Smart-Heat heat shield (part 2620165 / 2620166). Bromic's cut sheet drawing shows the full wall- and ceiling-mount envelope: 142″ overall without a heat deflector, 123.2″ with one.
- Gas. ½″ NPT female inlet. Natural gas supply 6–14″ W.C.; propane 11–14″ W.C.
- Power. A 110 V outlet for the ignition and controls (under 2 A). The heat comes from gas, not electricity.
- Installer. Bromic requires installation by an authorized person to local codes, or ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 and CSA B149.1 where there are none.
- Wind. The manual rates it to function in winds up to 10 mph.
Controls
One of these is required and sold separately: Affinity Smart-Heat On/Off Controller or Bromic Manual Wall Switch (Bromic cut sheet, control options). There's no dimmer option for the gas heaters.
What's in the Box
- Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas heater (your size and fuel)
- Wall bracket / control housing with pivot arm
- CSA-approved flexible gas connector
- Mounting bolts and washers
Not included: a control (see above), ceiling mounting pole (needed for ceiling mounting; six lengths), heat deflector, and the gas line and installation.
FAQ
Can it go on a covered patio?
Yes — that's what it's for. Bromic's manual requires it to be protected from rain and installed under a cover, and in a space with a roof and more than two walls at least 25% of the wall area must be completely open.
Do I need an electrician or a gas fitter?
A qualified gas installer for the gas connection. The electrical side is a standard 110 V outlet for ignition and controls (under 2 A), not a dedicated heating circuit.
How does it handle wind?
Bromic's installation manual rates it to function in winds up to 10 mph, with reduced performance or failure possible in high wind.
What does it cost to run?
The gas input is 26,000 BTU/hr (300) or 43,000 BTU/hr (500). Gas prices vary by utility and tank supplier, so use that figure with your own rate.
How do I control it?
With an Affinity On/Off Controller or a Manual Wall Switch, both sold separately.
What's the warranty?
2 years from Bromic, excluding maintenance items (hoses and igniters). Bromic supplies the replacement heater or part; labor and shipping are the owner's. Claims start with the dealer — contact us and we'll help you through Bromic's process.

Is this the right heater for your space?
Written from Bromic Heating's installation manual. Not sure? Call or text (814) 440-4817 with the space and we'll confirm the count and the size.
Who it's for
Covered outdoor spaces — covered patios, porches, terraces and outdoor rooms, residential or commercial. It must be protected from rain, so it goes under a roof or cover, and it's never for indoor residential use. In a space with a roof and more than two walls, Bromic requires at least 25% of the total wall area to be completely open. Pick the 500 for larger zones; the 300 for smaller zones or multi-heater runs.
Mounting & placement
Wall or ceiling. At least 8 ft from the floor; keep combustibles 3 ft from the top and sides, or 14″ from the top with the Tungsten heat shield. Ceiling mounting needs a Bromic ceiling pole (9.69″–41.18″), sold separately. Manual wind rating: up to 10 mph.
Who installs it
An authorized, qualified installer, to local codes or ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 and CSA B149.1. The job needs a 1/2″ NPT gas connection (natural gas or propane) and a 110 V outlet for the ignition and controls.
Specifications
Manufacturer figures. Confirm clearances and framing against the installation manual before you build.
Figures are from Bromic's Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas installation manual (US, V2.3) and the 2026 cut sheet linked below; where they differ from Bromic's website (wind rating, clearance above the heater), the manual is used. Width, height and projection are read from the manual's dimension drawing. Build to the installation manual, not to this table.

Questions people ask about this kind of product
Patio heaters
Gas or electric patio heater?
Gas (natural gas or propane) gives the most heat per unit and suits open or partly covered areas with a gas line or tank. Electric is cleaner, quieter and the answer for covered patios, pergolas and anywhere gas isn't practical — but it needs the right circuit, so we confirm voltage and wattage before you order.
Can I use these in a restaurant or commercial patio?
Yes — Bromic's Platinum, Tungsten and Eclipse lines are used in commercial hospitality. Tell us the area you're heating and how it's covered and we'll size it.
Do you install heaters?
No. Gas heaters need a licensed installer and electric heaters need an electrician for hardwired models. We supply the manufacturer's installation manual and mounting/clearance requirements.
Shipping & delivery
Is freight included? Any liftgate or fuel fees?
Freight is included to the 48 contiguous states, liftgate included, with no surcharges at checkout. Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories and international are quote-only — call before ordering.
How long until it arrives?
In-stock items typically ship in 1-3 business days, and freight items are delivered in 1-2 weeks from your order, with liftgate delivery. We provide tracking once it ships. Parcel items (accessories, some mantels and electric units) take about 5–10 business days by UPS/FedEx after they ship. Each product page shows the ships-in window; items with a longer manufacturer lead time say so on the page.
Will the freight carrier call me? What if I'm not home?
Delivery arrangements depend on the carrier; we'll confirm how yours will be delivered once it ships. Put a phone number you'll answer on the order. Delivery is curbside on a liftgate; the driver is not required to bring it inside, so plan to have a hand available.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
Look the crate over before you sign, write any damage on the delivery receipt (even "box damaged"), take a couple of photos, and contact us right away. For damage you find after unboxing, contact us as soon as you see it. We'll take it up with the distributor and manufacturer.
Do you deliver to Alaska, Hawaii or Canada?
By quote only. Call (814) 440-4817 with the product and address and we'll get a real freight cost before you commit.
Returns, cancellations & warranty
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery, if it's unused, unassembled and in the original packaging. Approved returns carry a 20% restocking fee and the customer covers return freight unless the return is due to our error or a defect — on a large freight item that is real money, which is exactly why we check the size and setup with you before you order. Special-order and custom-finish items can't be returned. Full terms: Refund policy.
What if I ordered the wrong size or fuel type?
Call the moment you notice. Orders can be cancelled or corrected by phone within 24 hours (see our cancellation policy), and before shipment we can usually fix a size or fuel selection at no cost. After it ships, the return terms above apply — so call or text (814) 440-4817 with your dimensions first and let us confirm the configuration.
How does the warranty work if something fails?
You're covered by the manufacturer's limited warranty (the terms are on each product page, sourced from the manufacturer's own document). It applies because we are an authorized dealer. If something fails, call us first and we'll help you work the claim with the manufacturer.
Price & payment
Can I finance it?
Monthly payments through Shop Pay Installments are offered at checkout on eligible orders, subject to approval; the estimated monthly figure on the product page comes from Shop Pay, not from us. Checking your options is a soft inquiry.
Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is collected on orders shipping to Pennsylvania. Other states are not currently taxed at checkout.
