Does a Napoleon Elevation X Come With Logs? What's in the Box

Napoleon Elevation X interior panel and log configuration

No—the Napoleon Elevation X firebox does not arrive as a completely finished fireplace package. The decorative log set, the decorative panels and the venting are selected and purchased separately, while the fireplace itself ships with items such as a safety barrier, a 1-inch vent insulation sleeve, a restrictor plate and screws. Napoleon installation manual W415-2000 (revision L-0, 09.29.25) is the primary source for this page.

That distinction matters because the Elevation X 42 firebox price of $5,549 does not represent every part of a finished fireplace. Where the manual states a fact, this page cites the manual page. Where the manual is silent, this page says so and names the secondary source used instead: Napoleon's own Elevation X 42 product page, or American Hearth Supply's live listings. Prices were checked on September 29, 2026.

Napoleon Elevation X: Included vs Purchased Separately

Of the components buyers ask about most, the safety barrier, insulation sleeve, restrictor plate and screws are supplied with the Napoleon Elevation X per the manual, while the log set, decorative panels, venting and firestops are not. The table covers the Elevation X 42 (EX42NTEL natural gas, EX42PTEL propane).

Component Included with firebox? Notes Source
Log set (BLKEX42, DLKEX42, OLKEX42) No — sold separately Napoleon lists log sets as required to complete the unit. The manual lists each EX42 log kit under its own part number and refers to a leaflet provided with the kit. It does not print a one-line "logs not included" statement. Napoleon EX42 product page (secondary, explicit). W415-2000 pp. 38, 58 (indirect).
Interior decorative panels No — required, sold separately The manual says the appliance does not include decorative brick panels, that panels are required, and that panel kits are sold separately. W415-2000 p. 38 (explicit).
Finishing kit Not listed as supplied The manual says to choose early between a non-combustible kit (NCEX36/42) and a combustible kit (DHCEX/DHMEX), because the framing differs. W415-2000 p. 18.
Safety barrier Yes The manual says a barrier is provided with the appliance and must be installed. W415-2000 pp. 2, 5.
1-inch insulation sleeve Yes Wraps the first 3 feet of outer 8-inch vent pipe. W415-2000 p. 14.
Restrictor plate Yes Marked "supplied" in the exhaust restriction step. W415-2000 p. 28.
Screws Yes The hardware list shows four screw types and states that only fasteners supplied with the appliance are illustrated. W415-2000 p. 12.
Blower Yes, per Napoleon Napoleon lists an included heat-circulating blower. The manual's EX42 parts list shows left and right blower assemblies but has no supplied-items statement for them. Napoleon EX42 product page (secondary). W415-2000 p. 56.
Remote Yes, per Napoleon The manual describes remote setup and says "if your appliance is supplied with a remote," but does not state that one ships. Napoleon EX42 product page (secondary). W415-2000 pp. 23, 31.
eFIRE Bluetooth control Yes, per Napoleon The manual describes the eFIRE app in section 5.4 and lists a Bluetooth control module in the EX42 parts list. It does not state that the module ships. Napoleon EX42 product page (secondary). W415-2000 pp. 30, 57.
Receiver Not confirmed The manual mentions a receiver ("if equipped"), but neither the manual nor Napoleon's product page states that a receiver is in the box. Ask before assuming. W415-2000 pp. 23, 60.
Venting (pipe, terminal, adapters) No The manual specifies a 5-inch exhaust / 8-inch intake system and lists approved vent brands. It does not list vent pipe or a terminal as supplied. W415-2000 p. 13.
Wall and ceiling firestop No Each firestop assembly is marked "not supplied." Which part applies depends on rigid vs flex venting and on the penetration. W415-2000 pp. 24–25.
Non-combustible board Not listed as supplied The manual calls for non-combustible board, ceramic tile, marble or similar finishing material where specified. Its checklist mentions "factory supplied non-combustible materials" without naming them, so confirm what your chosen kit contains. W415-2000 pp. 6, 18.

Manual page numbers are printed page numbers in W415-2000, revision L-0. "Secondary" means the fact comes from Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page rather than the manual.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include a log set?

No. The Napoleon Elevation X firebox does not include the decorative log set; the log set is a separate purchase, and for the Elevation X 42 the birch set is BLKEX42.

Napoleon's product page for the Elevation X 42 lists a choice of high-definition log sets as "Required to Complete Unit." Installation manual W415-2000 supports the same conclusion indirectly: its EX42 logs page lists the birch (BLKEX42), driftwood (DLKEX42) and split oak (OLKEX42) sets under their own part numbers (p. 58), and the log placement step refers to a leaflet "provided with kit" (p. 38). The manual does not print a plain sentence saying logs are not included, so the explicit statement on this page comes from Napoleon's product page, a secondary source.

Napoleon Elevation X BLKEX42 decorative log set
Birch log set for the Elevation X (BLKEX36 for the EX36, BLKEX42 for the EX42).

The Elevation X 42 log sets at American Hearth Supply (price checked September 29, 2026):

Log set SKU Price
High Definition Birch, EX42 BLKEX42 $479
High Definition Driftwood, EX42 DLKEX42 $629
High Definition Split Oak, EX42 OLKEX42 $629

The firebox price and the configured fireplace price are therefore not the same number. The log set is its own line on the order; see the Napoleon Elevation X log sets for all sizes.

What comes in the box with a Napoleon Elevation X?

The Napoleon Elevation X ships with the fireplace, a safety barrier, a 1-inch vent insulation sleeve, a restrictor plate and installation screws, and Napoleon's product page also lists a heat-circulating blower, a remote and an eFIRE controller as included. The manual is the source for the first group, and Napoleon's product page is the source for the second.

Napoleon Elevation X interior panel and log configuration
An Elevation X 42 with Newport brick panels and oak logs. Both are sold separately from the firebox.

Included with the firebox

  • Confirmed by W415-2000: safety barrier (pp. 2, 5), 1-inch insulation sleeve for the first 3 feet of outer vent pipe (p. 14), restrictor plate (p. 28), and screws per the hardware list (p. 12).
  • Listed as included by Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page, not printed as "supplied" in the manual: heat-circulating blower, remote, and eFIRE controller.
  • Not confirmed by either source: a separate receiver.

Required or selected separately

  • Log set: BLKEX42, DLKEX42 or OLKEX42 for the EX42.
  • Decorative panels: the manual says they are required and sold separately (p. 38).
  • Finishing kit choice: non-combustible (NCEX36/42) or combustible (DHCEX/DHMEX), chosen before framing (p. 18).
  • Venting components and the firestop that matches the vent type (pp. 13, 24–25).

Job-site construction materials

  • Non-combustible finishing material such as board, ceramic tile or marble where the installation instructions call for it (p. 18).
  • Vent support: the manual calls for support ring assembly W010-0067 or equivalent non-combustible strapping (p. 13).
  • Sealants such as red RTV W573-0002, which the manual marks "not supplied" (pp. 23–27), plus framing lumber and fasteners for the enclosure.

What do I need to buy separately for a Napoleon Elevation X?

A Napoleon Elevation X project needs a log set, a set of decorative panels and project-specific venting purchased separately from the firebox, and the manual requires a finishing-kit choice before framing. None of these appear as supplied items in W415-2000.

At American Hearth Supply, on September 29, 2026, the Elevation X 42 items looked like this:

Item What the manual says AHS price
Log set (BLKEX42 birch) Separate part number (p. 58) $479
Decorative brick panels, EX42 (DBPEX42) Required, sold separately (p. 38) $379–$389 by finish
Finishing kit: DHCEX, DHMEXS, DHMEXF Choose a kit early (p. 18) $125 / $469 / $529
Venting and firestop Not supplied (pp. 13, 24–25) Depends on the run

Other panel finishes, including ledgestone, porcelain and glass, are priced differently. Fronts and trims are optional, and the manual notes that the appliance must be raised flush with the hearth or finished floor if optional trims are installed (p. 18). Napoleon's product page lists brick kits under "optional" features, while the manual says panels are required; American Hearth Supply follows the manual. See the Napoleon Elevation X decorative panels for finishes and sizes, and our guide on putting a TV above a gas fireplace if the finishing-kit choice depends on a mantel or TV.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include a blower?

Yes, according to Napoleon: its Elevation X 42 product page lists an included heat-circulating blower.

Installation manual W415-2000 shows left and right blower assemblies in the EX42 replacement-parts list (p. 56) and includes blower replacement steps (pp. 50–51). It does not print a supplied-items statement for the blower, and its blower text is written generically for products that offer a blower either as an option or as standard. W415-2000 alone therefore does not say whether the blower ships installed or as a separate kit for this model, and this page does not go beyond what Napoleon's product page states.

This page makes no heating-performance claims. The only gas rating in the sources reviewed is a maximum input rating: the EX42 specification sheet W415-2777 lists 45,000 BTU for natural gas (EX42NTEL) and 39,000 BTU for propane (EX42PTEL). Maximum input is the fuel the burner can consume, not heat delivered to the room.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include a remote?

Napoleon lists a remote and an eFIRE controller as included with the Elevation X 42, but installation manual W415-2000 does not print a statement that either is supplied.

The manual covers setup of the transmitter and the Proflame 2 battery holder (p. 31) and says "if your appliance is supplied with a remote" when discussing the receiver (p. 23). It also describes Napoleon's eFIRE app, which it says can control on/off, flame height, lights, blower and a timer "when fully equipped (if applicable)" (p. 30), and its EX42 parts list includes a Bluetooth control module, W190-0090 (p. 57). This page does not describe any app feature beyond what those pages state. The manual instructs installing batteries in the battery holder and transmitter but does not say whether batteries are supplied. A separate receiver is mentioned in the manual (pp. 23, 60), but neither the manual nor Napoleon's product page says one is in the box.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include venting?

No. The Napoleon Elevation X does not include the vent system; W415-2000 lists only a 1-inch insulation sleeve and a restrictor plate as supplied vent-related parts, and it marks the wall and ceiling firestop assemblies "not supplied."

Vent-related pieces supplied with the fireplace. The 1-inch insulation sleeve covers the first 3 feet of outer 8-inch vent pipe (p. 14), and the restrictor plate is marked supplied in the exhaust restriction step (p. 28).

Full venting components for the actual project. The Elevation X uses a 5-inch exhaust / 8-inch air intake vent pipe system, and the manual says to use only Wolf Steel, Metal-Fab, BDM, Simpson Dura-Vent or Selkirk Direct Temp venting components (p. 13). It does not list vent pipe or a terminal as supplied.

Firestop components. Wall and ceiling firestop assemblies are each marked "not supplied" (pp. 24–25), and the part number depends on the venting type.

Project-specific routing. Required components depend on the installation layout and applicable codes, and the manual sets minimum and maximum vent lengths for each layout. This page is not a vent installation guide; a qualified installer works from the manual and local code. For planning, see our direct-vent gas fireplace buying guide and the direct-vent installation cost guide.

What does a complete Napoleon Elevation X installation package cost?

The $5,549 Elevation X 42 firebox price is not necessarily the complete equipment cost for a finished fireplace configuration. The Elevation X 42 is $5,549 for either EX42NTEL (natural gas) or EX42PTEL (propane) at American Hearth Supply. One configured project can reach approximately $7,600 in equipment once decorative components and project-specific venting are included.

Component Example price
Elevation X 42 firebox $5,549
BLKEX42 log set $479
Decorative panels (EX42 brick, $389 finish) $389
Example venting allowance ~$1,200
Illustrative total ~$7,600

This is an example equipment package, not a universal installed price. Vent requirements and project materials vary by installation. American Hearth Supply supplies the equipment and does not perform installation.

The $1,200 venting figure is an illustrative project allowance, not a fixed vent package price. The example also leaves out the finishing kit the manual says to choose ($125 to $529 for DHCEX, DHMEXS or DHMEXF), non-combustible finishing material, freight, and any gas, electrical, framing or labor costs. Price checked: September 29, 2026.

What should I ask for when comparing Napoleon Elevation X quotes?

A lower advertised firebox price and a higher complete-package quote may refer to the same fireplace with different amounts of required equipment included in the quote. Two Elevation X quotes can show different totals simply because they contain different components, so compare line items before totals.

Ask each quote to state:

  • The exact firebox model and fuel: EX42NTEL (natural gas) or EX42PTEL (propane), or the EX36 equivalents.
  • The log set SKU: BLKEX42, DLKEX42 or OLKEX42.
  • The decorative panel finish and SKU, since the manual says panels are required.
  • The finishing kit: non-combustible (NCEX36/42) or combustible (DHCEX/DHMEX).
  • Which venting components and firestop are included, and whether they match your actual route.
  • Freight and delivery terms.
  • Any other project-specific parts, and who is responsible for installation, which American Hearth Supply does not perform.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Napoleon Elevation X come with logs?

No. The Napoleon Elevation X firebox does not include the decorative log set; the EX42 log sets are sold separately as BLKEX42 (birch), DLKEX42 (driftwood) and OLKEX42 (split oak). Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page describes the log set as required to complete the unit, and installation manual W415-2000 lists each log kit under its own part number.

What comes with a Napoleon Elevation X?

Installation manual W415-2000 identifies a safety barrier, a 1-inch insulation sleeve for the first 3 feet of outer vent pipe, a restrictor plate and a screw hardware list as supplied with the fireplace. Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page also lists a heat-circulating blower, a remote and an eFIRE controller as included. The log set, decorative panels, venting and firestops are not included.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include a blower?

Yes, according to Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page, which lists an included heat-circulating blower. Installation manual W415-2000 shows left and right blower assemblies in the EX42 parts list but does not print a supplied-items statement for the blower.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include a remote?

Napoleon's Elevation X 42 product page lists an included remote and an included eFIRE controller. Installation manual W415-2000 describes remote and eFIRE setup but does not print a statement that either is supplied, and neither source confirms that a separate receiver ships in the box.

Does the Napoleon Elevation X include venting?

No. The Napoleon Elevation X does not include the vent system. Installation manual W415-2000 lists only a 1-inch insulation sleeve and a restrictor plate as supplied vent-related parts, and it marks the wall and ceiling firestop assemblies as not supplied.

How much does a complete Napoleon Elevation X equipment package cost?

One configured example comes to about $7,600 in equipment: the $5,549 Elevation X 42 firebox, the $479 BLKEX42 log set, a $389 decorative panel set and an illustrative $1,200 venting allowance. That figure is not a universal price, because venting and other project materials depend on the installation. Prices were checked on September 29, 2026.
